5 boring tasks every small business should automate first

You do not need a big tech budget to save 10 hours a week. Start with these five automations that pay for themselves fast.
Automation workflow nodes on a dark grid

Every week I talk to business owners who spend hours on work a computer could do in seconds. Copying data, chasing invoices, sending the same emails again and again.

Here are the five automations I recommend first, because they are cheap, quick to set up and save the most time.

1. New leads straight into your CRM

When someone fills in a form, their details should land in your CRM automatically, tagged and ready. No more copy and paste from your inbox.

2. Follow-up emails that never forget

Most sales are lost because nobody followed up. An automation can send a friendly, personal follow-up after 2 days, then again after a week, and stop the moment they reply.

3. Invoice reminders

Nobody enjoys chasing money. Let a polite reminder go out automatically when an invoice is overdue.

4. Weekly reports in your inbox

Sales, leads, website visits: pulled together, summarised by AI, and emailed to you every Monday morning.

5. Social posts from one idea

Write one idea, and let AI turn it into a LinkedIn post, an Instagram caption and a short email for your list.

The rule I follow

If you do it more than twice a week and it follows the same steps, automate it.

Grab a notepad this week and write down every repetitive task you do. You will be surprised how many hours are hiding there.

Want help finding them? Book a quick call and we will map your week together.
